The project’s objective was to deliver MVP designs for a funding platform that connects investors and film producers. Using data-driven insights and advanced analytics, it enables confident investment decisions and helps producers secure the resources to bring their ideas to life.
User flows
The next step was to map all user paths for the core platform interactions, ensuring they felt intuitive for both user segments. This work led to a series of follow-up workshops, where we validated the flows for both producers and funders, refining them based on feedback before moving into detailed design.
Hallway testing
Hallway testing is a quick, informal method where participants interact with a prototype to provide unfiltered feedback. For this project, we conducted 10 sessions with a diverse group using low-fidelity wireframes and prototypes. We observed user interactions, identified pain points, and collected feedback to refine the design and validate decisions before progressing to higher-fidelity prototypes. Results showed us that users had the most trouble with analysing many charts and tables on the same page. Visual representation and hierarchy were adjusted on hi-fidelity designs. Moreover, there were some minor inconviniences while filling the form - respondents didn't understand some of the inputs requirements. We updated them with additional descriptions and shorten the form by connecting some of the inputs together.
Feedback from users highlighted the app’s ease of use, reliability, and the valuable insights it provided, cementing GlobalFinance Inc.'s position as a leader in international financial services.
Key takeaways
· Aligning business and user needs is crucial Early research played a crucial role in understanding industry trends and business objectives. When user needs were considered from the start, the final product became not only more user-friendly but also commercially successful. · Mapping user flows early saves time and resources Workshops and ideation sessions helped structure user journeys before diving into detailed design. Identifying core flows early on prevented major rework down the line. · Low-fidelity prototypes accelerate validation With over 150 sketches created, rapid prototyping proved invaluable. Testing rough concepts first ensured that interactions were validated before committing to polished UI designs. · Collaboration leads to better outcomes A team of two designers brought diverse perspectives, leading to more refined solutions. Working closely with the Product Owner, Business Analyst, and client provided crucial insights—especially from the client, who deeply understood users’ mental models. · Data visualization is a key challenge Users often struggle with complex, data-heavy screens like dashboards and tables. Clear hierarchy, progressive disclosure, and well-placed tooltips help make information more digestible.
